The 150-hectare International Advanced Manufacturing Park (IAMP) is a nationally significant development that is set to transform land in Sunderland and South Tyneside into a thriving hub for engineering and advanced manufacturing.
The park, which spans land in both local authority boundaries, will become home to a large number of major businesses, the majority of which will be automotive firms, part of Nissan’s ambitions to create a closely-located supply chain.
Port of Sunderland is perfectly positioned to provide support to these businesses, with easy access to and from the IAMP. Newly enhanced road connections, with a strategic transport corridor that brings in the city’s newest landmark the Northern Spire bridge, will make transport between the port and the park simple and straightforward. And coupled with the port’s multimodal facilities – with a rail line running into the heart of the port estate – it is easy to see why businesses on the IAMP will choose the port to import and export goods.
The port has built a reputation for its responsiveness, and the level of service we are able to offer, teamed with the fantastic facilities and connectivity we now offer means that we are the obvious choice for Nissan suppliers that choose to base themselves on the IAMP.
