Enterprise Zones

Port of Sunderland was one of ten sites around the region included in the successful bid for a second North East Enterprise Zone (EZ) in November 2015.

The new EZ will focus on providing excellent facilities for businesses in the offshore renewables, subsea manufacturing and construction sectors as well a base for companies that can utilise the marine facilities of the port.

The EZ will cover a total of eight hectares across two sites providing 49,930m² of established new floor space on the west side of the dock on the old Hendon rail sidings and the East Shore. This will offer Enhanced Capital Allowances for businesses investing in plant and machinery to offset 100% of the cost against taxible profits in the year the investment is made.
