Storage and Distribution

Port of Sunderland boasts extensive open and covered storage facilities, and with impressive and improving transport links, infrastructure is in place for cost effective and efficient distribution of cargoes.

High quality general and bulk warehousing totaling 18,000m² is available, all with TASCC certification and CCTV security. All are easily served by the port’s fleet of forklifts and mobile cranes.

Extensive areas of secure open storage, two of the largest at 30,000m², have been developed with easy access to quays as well as the inward transport corridor by road or rail.

The port’s standard gauge railway system is linked to the National Rail network and interfaces with all west side quays from deepwater Corporation Quay to Hudson Dock.

Exchange sidings within the port estate allow direct access by locomotives and rolling stock operated by main line rail freight companies, providing an ideal solution for clients requiring a cost-effective and greener alternative to road haulage.
